The Musconetcong Watershed Association 2007 Commemorative
Ornament, eighth in a series, features an image of a Great Blue
Heron (ardea herodias) taken from a watercolor by Beattystown,
New Jersey artist Merle Morse entitled "Beattystown Great Blue
Heron." The statuesque migratory bird has been seen in springtime
along the banks of the Musconetcong River in Beattystown, a historic
district settled in 1750, in Warren County, NJ. The artwork is
mounted on a custom-made, white porcelain disc and has the artist's
signature on the reverse. Each year the MWA offers a new ornament
highlighting a scenic or historic site on the Musconetcong River.
