About the event

Join the Musconetcong Watershed Association for a flatwater paddling trip on Saxton Lake in Allamuchy Township.

Saxton Lake is one of many human-made lakes in the Musconetcong River Watershed, and another that was created as part of the historic Morris Canal.  It also happens to be nestled among largely forested river banks amidst the scenic New Jersey Highlands.  This flatwater paddling trip will allow for conversations about local wildlife, the history of the area, as well as the chance to learn about the current state of the Musconetcong River.  For example, what is its level of protection?  How is the water quality in the river, and which factors could lead to its decline or improvement?

If you're looking for a paddling outing more subdued than the swift waters of the undammed sections of the Musconetcong, this approximately two-hour trip would fulfill that and help connect you more deeply to this…
