About the event

Date: Monday, May 13, 2025 Time: 6:30 – 7:30 PM Location: River Resource Center, 10 Maple Avenue, Asbury, NJ 08802

Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) can pose serious risks to water quality, aquatic life, recreational access, and public health. As warming temperatures and nutrient pollution increase the likelihood of these blooms, the Musconetcong Watershed Association is launching our 2025 volunteer HAB Monitoring Program—and we need your help.

Join us for a free, one-hour HAB Monitoring Training to learn how to safely identify, sample, and report signs of HABs in local waterways. No prior experience is needed—just an interest in protecting our watershed and a willingness to contribute as a trained community scientist.

What You'll Learn:

  • How to recognize the visual signs of HABs in the field

  • Safe sampling techniques using NJDEP-approved test kits and water quality meters
